Dumbwaiter accident claims life of young Wisconsin woman

Most people don't go to work with the thought that they will have to deal with a situation that can kill them. That is especially true for bar employees who aren't doing jobs that are considered life-threatening. Sadly, there are accidents that might occur on the job site that can be fatal. The recent death of a 21-year-old Wisconsin restaurant employee highlights the need for all employers to ensure their workers remain safe.

The young woman was a gymnast at Winona State University. She was working at WingDam Saloon and Grill when she became trapped in a dumbwaiter. The dumbwaiter is a device similar to a miniature elevator that is used to move food and drinks between the first floor and the second floor of the establishment.

It seems as though the young woman got tangled in the machine without anyone noticing her accident. She died after being caught in the equipment. A coworker noticed that there was an issue and called emergency services. That coworker didn't get close enough to see what had happened.

A young woman who was trying to earn money working at a restaurant died doing her job. Her family is now left behind with nothing more than memories of the young woman. As they work through their grief, they might discover that they are suffering emotionally, mentally and physically. They might also be suffering financially because of having to pay her final expenses.

Seeking compensation for the death of a loved one is one way that family members can help to reduce the financial impact of a tragic death caused by the negligence of someone else. Knowing how to file claims and learning how the process works might help those left behind to get the compensation they deserve.
