Are you familiar with these unsafe work practices?

Regardless of your profession, you need to fully understand the types of work practices that can create a hazard. With this knowledge, it’s much easier to avoid an accident that can cause an injury.

Here are some of the many types of unsafe work practices that often come into play:

  • Using tools or machinery without the proper training (or the authority to do so)
  • Operating a work vehicle at an unsafe speed or in a reckless manner
  • Using defective equipment or tools, such as a ladder that has been damaged
  • Failure to use the appropriate personal protective equipment when required
  • Standing or working beneath a ladder or scaffolding

Even though these are common examples of unsafe work practices, there are many others that come into play on a regular basis.

It doesn’t matter what type of position you hold or the industry in which you work, it’s a must that you do whatever it takes to avoid trouble on the job.

If you come across something that could lead to an accident, such as a defective power tool, you need to report this to your employer to ensure that no one is harmed.

If you suffer a workplace injury, regardless of the reason, you should not hesitate to do the following:

  • Report the accident to your employer
  • Receive immediate medical attention
  • Learn more about making a ‘ claim

If your injury will keep you out of work in the future, you should file a ‘ claim so that you can receive money that will help you get by until you can return to your job.
