One fatality in Wisconsin box truck accident

Law enforcement officials are investigating a fatal accident that left one motorist dead. The incident occurred during the early morning on Feb. 19, and it involved a box truck and a car. The box truck was traveling north on Highway 26 in an area near Oshkosh when it struck a car driving in a southbound lane.

Snowy weather conditions were present when the truck accident occurred, and some nearby areas had reported between 2 and 7 inches of snow earlier that morning. As a result of the accident, the driver of the truck was injured, but he was not treated in a hospital. The driver of the car died at the scene.

The official cause of the accident was not initially released pending an investigation. Weather may have played a role in the event, but one of the driver's may have also caused the accident through negligent or intentional actions. Such car accidents may result in costly expenses for victims and their families, and these expenses may include funeral costs, medical bills, lost wages and other expenses.

Car accident victims and their families may pursue punitive damages in a civil court even if criminal charges are not filed. A personal injury lawsuit cannot erase the event or its effects, but it may ease the financial burden that a victim and family members experience as a result of the accident. Those who have been injured in a car accident or who have lost a loved one may consult with a Wisconsin personal injury lawyer to learn more about filing a lawsuit in civil court.
