Wisconsin woman involved in second fatal roadway mishap

Law enforcement authorities in Wisconsin allege that a female motorist was intoxicated when she caused a motor vehicle accident in Lanark. The accident resulted in the death of another motorist. According to law enforcement, the woman drove with a blood alcohol content nearly twice the legal limit permitted in the state of Wisconsin at the time of the accident.

The accident is not the woman's first run in with the law; she faced charges in 2012 for failing to report another accident that resulted in death. In that case, she drove a getaway car with another person who attempted to steal marijuana from a drug dealer. The drug dealer was on the top of the roof of the woman's automobile when the woman attempted to drive away from the scene, causing the man to fall from the vehicle, land on his head and subsequently die.

The specific charges expected to be lodged against the woman in light of the latest traffic related fatality were not provided by the police or the court. The woman is being held in custody on a bond of $100,000. She has a future court date scheduled.

Family members of a person killed in a car accident because of the negligence of another motorist can pursue what is known as a wrongful death lawsuit. A Wisconsin personal injury attorney may assist with this type of case by negotiating with insurance companies in order to obtain a more generous settlement for the afflicted family. An attorney may also represent family members in court if the insurance company does not provide adequate compensation for the family's outstanding medical bills, funeral costs or pain and suffering.
