Jobs that require eye protection

When you go to work each day, you might be risking your life. It all depends on the industry in which you work. There are some inherently dangerous professions out there, including emergency services, construction, mining, welding and others. A lot of these jobs require personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Some of these jobs only require you to wear PPE or certain items when performing specific duties of the job. Let's take a look at the jobs that require eye protection today.

Medical lab assistants perform an array of duties on a daily basis that require them to wear eye protection, such as goggles. This is especially true when the lab employees have to work with chemicals, body fluids or other hazards that could burn their eyes or lead to an infection.

Do you work as a welder? Not only should you wear a facemask to protect you from sparks, but also to protect your eyes from the bright light caused by welding items together. The facemask will also protect you from the heat that is generated when welding.

If you work on an assembly line or in an automotive shop where a lot of metal grinding takes place, you need to wear goggles. Sparks will fly, and you could lose your vision if a piece of metal goes into an eye.

A construction site is one of the most common places you will find employees wearing eye protection. There are just too many tools that can cause eye injuries and too many objects that can fall from heights, leading to an eye injury.

As you can see, there are quite a few jobs out there that require employees to wear eye protection. This protection should be worn whenever performing dangerous tasks that could lead to items flying toward you, possibly injuring your eyes. Make sure your goggles are in good shape before performing any job duties.
