Plymouth woman arrested for fatal accident

A woman was taken into custody after being suspected of causing a deadly early morning crash in Fond du Lac on Highway 23. An initial accident investigation and reports from callers had indicated that the 51-year-old woman was driving a red Chevrolet Cavalier westbound when she passed several cars.

At the same time, a 53-year old woman was driving eastbound when she attempted to avoid hitting the Cavalier by swerving onto the right hand shoulder. She lost control of her car and ended up across the highway facing opposing traffic. A man who was in a vehicle heading westbound struck her. The man who struck her vehicle did not sustain any life-threatening injuries; however, the other driver who was not wearing a seat belt died after she was ejected from her vehicle.

Authorities eventually stopped the woman who was driving the Cavalier when she was traveling on Highway 151 near Wonser Road. The woman had recently relocated to Wisconsin from Texas and was on her way to work when the deadly accident occurred. She is being detained in the Fond du Lac County Jail and faces a single charge of homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
