U-Haul moving truck accident in Wisconsin caused by faulty brakes

When you rent a vehicle, you expect that the vehicle is in good working order. You expect that it has been properly maintained. You expect that it is safe to drive. Sadly, that isn’t always the case. A recent moving truck accident involving an SUV and a U-Haul highlights the importance of properly working brakes.

The accident occurred at around 9:30 at night at a Pilot Travel Center near Interstate 94 in Wisconsin. The driver of the moving truck was leaving the gas pumps when he tried to stop the vehicle. He pressed on the brakes and was unable to get them to work.

The U-Haul ran into an SUV that was parked. The SUV ran over an ice machine before running into a window frame of the Arby’s that is attached to the Pilot Travel Center.

Two men in the U-Haul, one man in the SUV and one man who was in the restaurant were all taken to local hospitals. Each man was transported separately.

Upon investigating the accident, the investigators learned that faulty brakes on the U-Haul were to blame for the accident. All the brake fluid had leaked out of the vehicle. No one was ticketed in the incident.

This accident shows that it is important for proper equipment checks to be done by businesses that rent out vehicles. This accident could have been much worse than what it was if the brake failure had occurred at a different time. The people who were injured in this accident might have the right to seek for their injuries, including claims for pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost wages and other damages.
