A serious workplace injury can alter your life

On behalf of Mudge Porter Lundeen & Seguin, S.C. | Mar 30, 2017 | Workplace Injuries

Regardless of your profession, there is always a chance that you could be injured on the job. If this happens, you hope that you can receive treatment and return to work in the near future. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.

A serious workplace injury has a way of turning your life upside down. This can include but is not limited to injuries such as: broken neck, traumatic brain injury, or spinal cord trauma.

If you’re injured on the job, here are three steps you need to take:

— Receive immediate medical treatment.

— Report the accident and injury to your employer.

— Learn more about your legal rights, such as the ability to receive workers’ compensation benefits.

In addition to a workers’ compensation claim, you may be in position to file a third-party claim against another party, such as a contractor, who contributed to your accident and injury.

At our law firm, we’ve helped many people receive compensation after being injured at work. Although it’s not always easy, when you know which steps to take you put yourself in better position to receive compensation that can help you get by as you recover from your injury.

Like many, you may believe that you will never suffer a workplace injury. And like many, something bad could happen to you down the road.

When you know which steps to take after a serious workplace accident, it’s much easier to stay on the right track during this challenging time. You have legal rights and you should do whatever it takes to protect them.
