Workplace accidents are more common than many people believe. Unfortunately, a lack of knowledge can lead to a situation in which you put yourself at greater risk of injury.

Regardless of your profession, it should be part of your daily goal to remain 100 percent safe. This means becoming familiar with the common workplace accidents, such as the following:

  • Slip and fall: This can happen anywhere at any time. For example, you could slip and fall on the steps outside your office building. The same holds true of the grounds of a construction site.
  • Falling objects: Depending on your profession, there may be items stored at height. There may also be people working at height. If anything falls from above, such as a tool, it could injure anyone standing below.
  • Fall from height: Do you work on a ladder or scaffolding on a regular basis? How about roofs? If you work at height, you must do whatever it takes to avoid a fall to the ground below. This is a dangerous accident that can result in serious injury and even death.

These are far from the only workplace accidents, but they are definitely among the most common.

If you suffer any type of injury on the job, even one that appears to be minor at first, you should seek medical attention.

Once you understand your injuries and prognosis, learn more about your legal rights. You may be able to file a claim for ‘ benefits, thus giving you financial peace of mind as you work toward a full recovery.
